Additionally, the review spotlights two challenges of great importance to Coca-Cola Enterprises in 2005. First is the focus on health and wellness and the growing obesity epidemic in North America and Europe, which has special relevance for all food and beverage companies. Second is the hurricane devastation along the U.S. Gulf Coast, which brought crisis to our communities, employees, customers and facilities. For our business and stakeholders, the far-reaching consequences of these challenges give them paramount importance.

Scope of this Review
This review reflects the calendar year 2005, and the data covers all of our operations – bottling facilities, sales and distribution centers, and administrative offices – with the exception of the environmental chapter. In our environmental data, we report only the performance of our bottling facilities. At this point, we are not able to gather and report data for our sales and distribution facilities and administrative offices, although we believe their environmental footprint to be considerably smaller than our bottling facilities. In addition, we do not cover the manufacturing of beverages that we only distribute, for example, ROCKSTAR energy drinks and Evian water.

Global Reporting Initiative
In developing this review, we were guided by the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). These guidelines were developed as part of a multi-stakeholder process to help organizations report the economic, social and environmental dimensions of their activities. They have been widely endorsed and adopted by increasing numbers of companies.
In this review, we follow the guidelines as we seek to provide a balanced representation of our business and its economic, social and environmental impacts. We are not yet able to report against all GRI indicators, but we will increasingly strive to improve our reporting ability in the coming years. Beginning in 2006, we will work together with others in the Coca-Cola system to utilize the next version of the GRI reporting guidelines and, where appropriate, develop additional key business and performance indicators that specifically address the reporting needs of our business and stakeholders.

Assurance
As this is our first year taking a holistic approach to non-financial reporting, we have much to learn and do. At this stage, as we work to close any gaps in our data-gathering systems, we believe it is premature to seek external assurance. We are committed to developing greater transparency in our reporting and to improving the quality and quantity of data that we report.
