Overview

Despite the challenging economic conditions, our commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainability (CRS) has never been stronger. We have been recognized as a CRS leader in the global Coca-Cola system and are working toward leading the beverage industry in CRS.  Our CRS efforts are capturing operational efficiencies, driving innovation and effectiveness, and eliminating waste, while simultaneously protecting the environment.


Here are some of our key accomplishments:

•  Reduced beverage calories in U.S. schools by 58% since 2007. The American Beverage Association’s School Guidelines support the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a partnership between the William J. Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association

 • Calculated the global and individual country carbon footprints of our operations – one of our most significant accomplishments to date

 • Remained one of the most efficient water users in the Coca-Cola system, saving more than 300 million liters of water through water efficiency initiatives

 • Expanded our hybrid truck fleet in both Europe and North America, establishing the largest fleet of heavy-duty hybrids in North America

•  Broadened our portfolio of offerings, adding smaller package sizes and more options from new enhanced waters to juices

•  Continued our support of the United Nations Global Compact by endorsing the CEO Water Mandate, which recognizes the impact companies have on the world’s water supply

•  Joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Leaders program

•  Created the first certified produce carbon footprint of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Oasis in Great Britain and Dasani in the United States

•  Increased opportunities to recycle in the marketplace through Coca-Cola Recycling, which – along with our internal recycling programs – led to the recovery of approximately 125,000 metric tons of packaging materials
