Sourcing 100% of our electricity from renewable energy: Coca-Cola Enterprises joins RE100

Today, we announced that we have joined the RE100 initiative and will source 100% of our electricity from renewable energy.  We have joined 50+ companies on this journey including the likes of IKEA Group, BMW Group, MicrosoftAdobe, Google, Nike, Nestlé, Philips and Procter & Gamble.

We will ensure that, over time, 100% of the electricity we purchase will be from renewable sources. Electricity accounts for over 60% of all of the energy we use and the vast majority is used in our manufacturing operations.

As part of this new initiative we have joined the high profile RE100 campaign – led by The Climate Group – alongside 50+ other companies that have made similar commitments. With new figures released today, the RE100 have demonstrated the potential impact of the campaign, announcing that a private sector switch to renewables could “cut CO2 by nearly 15%”

This new commitment will also support our wider Sustainability Plan commitments to reduce the absolute carbon footprint of our core business operations by 50 percent and the carbon footprint of our drinks by one third – both by 2020.
